In Jalandhar, Punjab police announced on Thursday, Oct. 9, that a Counter‑Intelligence unit has dismantled a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror cell and seized 2.5 kilograms of an improvised explosive device (IED) plus a remote‑control detonator. The team also arrested two operatives tied to the plot.
The module was run by UK‑based handlers Nishan Jaurian and Adesh Jamarai, acting under instructions from BKI mastermind Harwinder Singh Rinda. “We busted a BKI terror module directed by Harwinder Singh Rinda,” DGP Gaurav Yadav posted on social media, adding that the seized IED was intended for a targeted attack. Gurjinder Singh and Diwan Singh were taken into custody. An FIR will be filed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Explosives Substances Act.
Earlier today, the Counter‑Intelligence wing in Amritsar cracked a cross‑border arms and drug smuggling ring linked to Pakistan’s ISI. Police recovered 2.5 kg of heroin, along with five pistols, their magazines and two additional weapons. Operatives Gurjant Singh and Gurvel Singh, both residents of TarnTaran, were apprehended. According to DGP Yadav, the seized arms were meant to fuel local criminal gangs.
The two operations highlight Punjab police’s intelligence‑led fight against ISI‑backed terror networks and drug trafficking. The state’s security forces continue to monitor and dismantle threats that could destabilise the region.警方正加紧行动，保障民众安全。
