On Monday, while opening the brand‑new premises of the Udaipur Chamber of Commerce in Rajasthan, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla told reporters that India has risen to become a major global destination for investment.
He added that many developed nations are keen to put money into the country and that the knowledge and talent of Indian youth are in high demand worldwide.
Birla also pointed out how India has established itself as a leader in innovation and start‑up activity.
The speaker praised Udaipur, calling it a distinctive city of lakes, mountains, culture and heritage and said that visiting the place is always a delight.
He noted that the city’s fame as a tourist hotspot creates jobs for millions and gives the nation a sense of pride.
Moreover, Udaipur’s abundant natural minerals, fine handicrafts and vibrant trade have turned it into a key national trading hub, boosting the development of both Rajasthan and the rest of the country.
According to Birla, the new chamber building stands for the unity and future goals of Udaipur’s business community.
He hopes it will become an active forum for dialogue and cooperation among entrepreneurs, MSMEs and start‑ups, and urged all parties to work together to make the city an innovation hub.
He also encouraged young people to focus on local resources when creating new ideas, stressing the need to balance innovation with tourism and commercial interests.
Highlighting small enterprises as the backbone of the economy, Birla mentioned schemes such as Mudra Yojana and credit guarantees that are giving substantial support to small firms.
He spoke of the rapid improvement in infrastructure—roads, transport and modern facilities—across the nation, and said the new chamber itself showcases Udaipur’s growing promise.
In closing, he offered a guiding vision for the city: “Growth along with heritage—this should be the direction of Udaipur.”
