In New Delhi, India, Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), joined a lively Ramleela event to celebrate Lord Ram’s timeless lessons. The gathering highlighted how this Hindu tradition keeps families connected to their roots and introduces kids to India’s rich cultural heritage, according to an AAP press release.
Kejriwal stressed that Lord Ram’s life stands as a powerful example of sacrifice, duty, obedience, and service. “Shri Ram’s ideal path still inspires us today to live with truth, sacrifice, and righteousness,” he said.
The Ramleela took place in Mayur Vihar Phase-3, organized by AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar from Kondli. After the performance, Kejriwal shared his thoughts with the crowd. “I loved sitting here with everyone to watch the Ramleela—it felt amazing,” he told attendees. He pointed out how many children joined in and shared a personal story. “When I was a kid, my parents took me to the full Ramleela every day without fail. In our fast-paced modern world, we often forget our Hindu culture. Events like this let us bring our kids and teach them about the Ramayan.”
Kejriwal drew deep inspiration from Lord Ram’s story of sacrifice. He recounted how Ram, set to become king the next day, gave it all up on his parents’ word. King Dashrath summoned him, and Queen Kaikeyi demanded he hand the throne to his brother Bharat and head into 14 years of exile. “Ram was the people’s choice—everyone in Ayodhya loved him and wanted him as king,” Kejriwal explained. “If he’d refused even once, the public would have backed him. But that’s not who Ram was. He obeyed his father and mother without hesitation, smiling as he left for exile and passed the throne to Bharat.”
From this, Kejriwal said, we learn key values like sacrifice, respecting parents, and serving others—lessons straight from the Ramayan that guide us all.
Wrapping up with warm festival wishes, Kejriwal prayed for happiness and blessings. “I extend my heartfelt greetings for Dussehra, Ramleela, Navratri, Diwali, and Chhath Puja. May these celebrations bring joy and prosperity to everyone.”
