Defence management officers study Andaman and Nicobar Command’s jointness

New Delhi, Nov 22 (LatestNewsX) – A recent visit by officers from the Higher Defence Management Course at the College of Defence Management (CDM) to the Andaman and Nicobar Command highlighted how well the three armed‑services and the Indian Coast Guard can work together, an official said on Saturday.

During the Forward Area Tour, the delegation received a briefing on a number of capability‑development projects the Indian Air Force has underway in the island territory, as well as the current abilities of the Amphibious Brigade, HQ Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) posted on X.

“At the Joint Operations Centre, leaders were briefed on the latest operational activities, including the ongoing ‘Op Castle Bay’, which has shown a high degree of jointness, integration, and synergy between the services and the Indian Coast Guard in monitoring, situational awareness, and coordinated execution at #ANC,” the HQ IDS added.

A live demonstration underscored how emergencies in the island territories are managed effectively, the statement noted.

In a further update, HQ IDS said a six‑day Management Development Programme on Research Methodology, held at CDM, wrapped up on Saturday.

“The programme was attended by 29 mid‑level officers from the Indian Armed Forces. Intensive sessions covered contemporary research ideas, tools and techniques, with the aim of sharpening analytical skills and encouraging evidence‑based decision‑making,” the HQ IDS explained.

Through practical workshops and project work, participants applied scientific research methods to real operational and organisational challenges, the report added.

Earlier, a group of officers from the Higher Defence Management Course had visited the Headquarters of the Konark Corps and the associated Aviation Brigade.

The team was given a detailed briefing on the Corps’ operational readiness and the current phases of its capability‑development initiatives.

The exchange enabled focused discussions on prevailing operational challenges, force modernisation efforts, and the integration of cutting‑edge technology. The visit provided the officers with valuable on‑the‑ground experience and reinforced jointmanship, it said.
