President Droupadi Murmu hosts Blind Women’s T20 World Cup winners

On Saturday an official confirmed that President Droupadi Murmu greeted the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team—victors of the first Blind Women’s T20 World Cup—at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The squad gave her an autographed bat, and she congratulated them, saying their win would inspire others to reach new heights in life and work. She also signed the ball the team presented and posted a message on X about the event.

Earlier, Mrs Murmu had taken part in the closing ceremonies of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of Bharat Scouts and Guides and addressed its 19th National Jamboree in Lucknow. She expressed pride in the organization’s 75‑year history of guiding and inspiring young people to actively help build the nation. Highlighting the Scouts and Guides as exemplars of service—whether during floods, earthquakes or epidemics—she praised their role in promoting national unity.

She thanked the group for empowering youth, noting that with more than 6.3 million members, Bharat Scouts and Guides is one of the world’s largest Scout movements. She also applauded the more than 2.4 million girls who have joined, commending their discipline, dedication, and commitment to society’s welfare.

The President reiterated that the Scouts and Guides’ motto, “Be Prepared,” means being ready to face future challenges. She urged current and future members to develop confidence, determination, and a broad set of skills—technical, communication, teamwork, problem‑solving, and leadership—to meet any obstacles that may arise.
