In Andhra Pradesh, the YSRCP Legal Cell is firing back at what they call ongoing illegal detentions of social media activists by the state police. Despite clear warnings from the High Court, these arrests keep happening, and the party wants it to stop now.
M. Manohar Reddy, president of the YSRCP Legal Cell, issued a strong statement on Wednesday from Tadepalli. He pointed to the case of activist Savindra, where the High Court slammed the police for their actions and ordered his immediate release. But while the court was still grilling the officers, another activist, Tarak Pratap Reddy, got picked up without a trace. His family is worried sick, with no idea where he is.
It’s not just that one incident. In Anantapur district, police grabbed activist Sai Bhargav right from his home and took him to Rapthadu Police Station, skipping all proper procedures. Reddy highlighted how three social media activists faced this harassment in just three days. “This shows the police are ignoring constitutional rights and the court’s authority on purpose,” he said.
The YSRCP Legal Cell is demanding the state government halt these illegal moves immediately. They want full respect for citizens’ rights and for police to follow the law. Plus, they call for tough action against any officers defying High Court orders.
Shifting gears to temple politics, Tirupati Lok Sabha MP Maddila Gurumoorthy took a bold stand on Tuesday to protect the Tirumala Temple from what he sees as dirty political games. He sent urgent letters to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Justice of India Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai.
Gurumoorthy is pushing for a CBI inquiry through Shah and a Judicial Commission led by a sitting Supreme Court judge to dig into the growing Tirumala Parakamani controversy. He blasted the Naidu government’s claims of theft and misuse of temple offerings as pure political revenge, with zero solid proof or fair process.
These accusations are hurting the faith of 1.2 billion Hindus around the world, who see Tirumala as the sacred home of Lord Venkateswara, Gurumoorthy argued. The Parakamani—where devotees offer their heartfelt gifts—should never become a tool for partisan fights. He warned that this kind of drama damages communal harmony and trust in religious sites.
Only a fair, independent probe can reveal the facts and bring back confidence among pilgrims, he stressed. The letters urge quick steps to safeguard religious feelings and keep democracy on track. ()
