Rajasthan Deputy CM Diya Kumari slams Rahul Gandhi for “insulting” India abroad

Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari sharply condemned Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Saturday, saying his comments about a “biggest challenge” to democracy in India were wrong and an insult to the nation.

Kumari spoke at a Jaipur event and called Gandhi’s remarks “very wrong.” She pointed out that attacking one’s own country abroad is a big insult, highlighting how the opposition leader used his overseas platform to criticize the Narendra Modi government.

Gandhi had spoken at the EIA University of Colombia and said India faces a major threat from attacks on democracy. He praised the country’s strengths in engineering and health, but warned that the democratic system, which keeps India’s 16‑17 languages, religions and cultures alive, is under attack. The Congress leader urged the government to protect democratic institutions and give space for diverse traditions to thrive.

Both leaders looked to their words to shape how India can address political tensions and preserve democracy, while the public watches the nation’s political leaders debate how to keep India’s pluralistic society strong.
