In Dehradun, Uttarakhand’s Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan took a hands-on look at the Secretariat’s setup on Monday. He checked out the cleanliness drive and went through various sections to spot areas needing improvement.
Bardhan spotted piles of old files cluttering up spaces and quickly ordered a full weeding process to clear them out. He made it clear: recirculate the file-weeding rules right away, and get every section done within the next month—no excuses.
He also pushed for better storage solutions. Bardhan told the Secretary of Secretariat Administration to find space for a new record room fast. This spot would hold all the important files after the cleanup, keeping everything organized and easy to access.
Worried about too many teams squeezing into single rooms, he called for quick action. Arrange temporary portable cabins for 10-12 sections immediately, he said, so staff can spread out and work better.
On top of that, Bardhan wants regular checks to keep things running smoothly. Recirculate the inspection schedule, ensure officers visit their sections on time, and make sure all basic facilities—like power, water, and seating—are up to scratch in the Secretariat buildings.
This push for a tidier, more efficient Uttarakhand Secretariat aims to boost productivity and space management for government staff.
