Golf: Theegala finishes 42nd at Bermuda as Schenk wins title

Sahith Theegala finished the Butterfield Bermuda Championship with a tame 73, tying for 42nd place. Over the four‑day tournament he shot 76‑65‑70‑73 for a total of even par 284, keeping him in the lower half of the leaderboard.

There’s only one more event in the Fall season, but Theegala will keep his PGA Tour card for 2025 and 2026 thanks to his finish in the Tour Championship last year.

Adam Schenk clinched his first PGA Tour win with an even‑par 71, edging out Chandler Phillips by one shot. The victory came in brutal wind—gusts topped 30 mph—at Port Royal, the heart of the Bermuda Championship. Schenk saved a birdie and four critical par saves under the wind, posting his 243rd Tour start.

Heading into the final hole, Schenk’s approach to the par‑4 18 slipped just over the green, giving him only a short, windy putt. He chose to roll it over the fringe—around six feet away—and the wind pushed it five feet short, then the ball left the hole. With the putt untouched, he secured the win.

Schenk’s win earns him a two‑year exemption and locks him into full status for 2026’s smaller fields, as only the top 100 in the FedExCup will be secure—down from 125.

Takumi Kanaya of Japan had a chance to close the gap. He was one shot behind Schenk in the final round, but the strong left‑hand wind sent his approach to a deep bunker. He drilled it to inside four feet and missed his wind‑affected par putt, falling just inside the 99th spot on the FedExCup leaderboard. His finish leaves him feeling the pressure heading into the last event of the season.
