Tripura govt to create education hub in state: CM Saha

Agartala: Exciting news for education in Tripura! Chief Minister Manik Saha announced plans to create a new education hub in the state. This move aims to improve the quality of education and bring fresh opportunities for students across Tripura.

During a special Teachers’ Day celebration, CM Saha emphasized the vital role teachers play. “Teachers don’t just teach from books—they support students physically, mentally, and emotionally,” he said. “They should work to shape good human beings with strong moral values while also upgrading their own skills with patience.”

Tripura has already seen progress with the establishment of three new government universities, including a Central university, along with several private institutions. The Chief Minister announced that the government plans to add three more degree colleges in Ambassa, Kakraban, and Karbook to serve more students.

Highlighting the importance of girls’ education, CM Saha shared exciting news: a new women’s university will soon open in the state, providing more opportunities for young women to learn and grow.

Since 2018, when the BJP government came into power, over 19,800 government jobs have been created in Tripura. This includes more than 5,200 teaching positions and 125 librarian jobs, giving many locals new career options.

The Chief Minister also spoke about the progress in literacy. Tripura became the third state in India to achieve full literacy, after Goa and Mizoram, on June 23. Thanks to the ‘ULLAS’ (Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society) program, the literacy rate has reached an impressive 95.6%. This achievement is a huge pride for the people of Tripura.

Looking ahead, the government is working on better education for children through programs like Nipun Tripura and PM Shri Schools. Campaigns like Saharsh are helping provide education with joy and enthusiasm. Additionally, the Tripura School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework has been introduced to encourage healthy competition among schools and improve education standards.

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India’s new National Education Policy (NEP) is helping transform the education system. The focus is on Indian cultural heritage, history, and modern skills to ensure students are prepared for the future.

To honor special contributions, the Chief Minister felicitated three outstanding teachers and social activists—Dr. Atul Debbarma, Pranati Debbarma, and Samir Chakraborty—for their dedication and creativity in education.

Tripura is moving ahead with big plans to make quality education accessible and inspiring for all.
