Husband of ‘2 Fast 2 Furious’ star Devon Aoki charged with hit-and-run after striking Florida scooter rider

James Bailey, who is married to former “2 Fast 2 Furious” actress Devon Aoki, was charged with a hit‑and‑run after allegedly striking a scooter rider’s foot in a Coral Gables crosswalk.

The 40‑year‑old driver was seen in a white Audi SQ7, which reportedly left the victim with “serious injuries,” including two fractured feet, according to Local 10.

Footage released by the station shows the rider’s foot trapped beneath the SUV’s right front tire as he clutches the hood in pain and begs the driver to move the car. His girlfriend, seen in the video, “frantically asking (Bailey) to move the vehicle back (to) release (his) foot from underneath the tire,” according to the arrest report.

Shortly after the incident, the Audi reversed, sending the man to the ground, then backed up again before accelerating forward to continue on, all without offering aid, passing anyone information, or reporting the crash to authorities.

Police later spotted the SUV on multiple license‑plate readers and body‑cam footage, then drove to its registered address: a $9.1 million, eight‑bedroom, seven‑bathroom mansion shared with Aoki. The former actress told officers she “did not know the whereabouts” of the vehicle. When Bailey’s car arrived, officers followed him into the driveway, pulled out their lights, and a sergeant ordered him to approach.

Bailey reportedly “ran away” and lingered inside the home for several minutes, watching the officers from a window before surrendering. The Audi sustained only minor damage, consistent with a collision involving a pedestrian riding a stand‑up scooter.

He was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges of hit‑and‑run causing serious bodily injury and resisting without violence without violence. Bailey appeared in Miami‑Dade bond court on Tuesday and was released on a $7,500 bond, smiling widely as he left the facility.

Aoki, who also starred in “Sin City,” has retired from acting and last appeared onscreen in a 2016 documentary about her brother, DJ and record producer Steve Aoki. The couple wed in 2011 and have four children together.
