Andhra Pradesh govt to issue all-in-one smart cards to 1.4 crore families

In Amaravati on November 24, the Andhra Pradesh government outlined a plan to roll out its Family Benefit Management System (FBMS), aiming to issue 1.4 crore smart family cards by June 2026. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu chaired a review session at the secretariat that Monday, urging officials to use the platform to empower households.
He instructed staff to catalogue all welfare schemes and civic services—such as vaccinations, Aadhar, FBMS ID, caste certificates, ration cards, nutrition programs, scholarships and pensions—so that every piece of information would be embedded in the new cards. The cards will carry both static and dynamic data, include a QR code, and enable citizens to access all government services through a single device.
The CM emphasized that FBMS should go beyond just pensions and ration cards, capturing a comprehensive profile of each family member. By doing so, the cards will facilitate smooth delivery of civic services, offer transparency, and help identify eligible beneficiaries for various schemes.
According to Naidu, individual data must be finished by January 2026, with card distribution completed by June. He also ordered the use of Swarnandhra Vision Units to update information in rural areas. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand and representatives from several departments.
