In New Delhi on Saturday, Union Food Processing Minister Chirag Paswan led a key meeting of his Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). The party worked hard to outline seat‑sharing plans for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
Sources say Paswan and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) already reached a deal on how many seats each party will take. The NDA will announce the exact plan later in the day.
Under the new agreement, the LJP (Ram Vilas) is expected to contest 25 – 26 seats. This marks the end of a tough negotiation cycle among the alliance partners.
Nityanand Rai, the Union Minister of State for Home, played a key role in getting both sides to agree. The BJP asked Rai to broker the talks. Over the last 24 hours, he met Paswan four times in New Delhi, and both leaders say the outcome was positive.
LJP MP Shambhavi Choudhary told that the final seat‑sharing decision will rest with the party chief. “We’ll know as soon as it’s finalized,” she said. MP Veena Devi added that the tickets are set and the party will follow the national president’s resolution.
Another NDA partner, former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi of the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), remains firm on his demands. He wants a specific number of seats and insists on contesting from particular constituencies.
After concluding the talks with Paswan, Rai updated Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who heads the BJP’s campaign in Bihar, on the latest developments.
The NDA’s Bihar coalition includes five parties: the BJP, Janata Dal (United), LJP (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha. All partners are now preparing to rally voters for the state’s crucial election.
