Dhaka, Dec 1 (LatestNewsX) – During a month-long celebration of Bangladesh’s liberation, the ruling Awami League denied that the Mohammad Yunus‑led caretaker administration is operating in the true interests of the nation. The party accused the interim team of undermining the very spirit of independence that the country fought so hard to win.
Calling the Yunus regime a “killer‑fascist” group, the Awami League said:
"The real objective of today’s illegitimate, occupying ‘killer‑fascist Yunus group’ is to diminish the glory of Bangladesh’s independence. As they serve external powers, they want the entire nation to embrace that subservience without question."
The party reminded that Bangladesh achieved independence on December 16, 1971, and that under the unchallenged leadership of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Bengali people toppled a thousand years of subjugation through the great Liberation War.
Since the victory, the Awami League claims that domestic and foreign opponents of the liberation have sought to tarnish this historic triumph. They argue that these forces, resentful of the “Himalayan” success born from united Bengali effort, have repeatedly attacked the core values of independence, trying to pull Bangladesh back toward a Pakistani ideology.
According to the party, whenever the anti‑freedom organisations see a chance, they amplify their plots. In July–August 2024, for example, they say, these groups “through conspiracy, forcibly removed a constitutionally elected Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina.”
The Awami League describes the situation under the Yunus caretaker as a deprivation of rights and constitutional protections. They note that factories are shutting down, hundreds of thousands of workers are losing jobs, farmers lack fertilizer, social assistance for the poor and vulnerable has been cancelled, and people have no security for their lives or property. The economy and national capacity, the party asserts, have collapsed. State power is reportedly being used to grant illegal benefits to “illegal occupiers” who “serve foreign masters” and act as their instruments, with the goal of handing Bangladesh over to external interests.
At the start of the victory month, the Awami League called on patriotic citizens, pro‑liberation supporters, and leaders of all parties to unite around the ideals of the martyrs, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s philosophy, and the spirit of the Liberation War.
