Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Visits Wayanad, Pushes for Key Road Project in Kerala
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra kicked off her 10-day visit to her Wayanad constituency in Kerala with a hands-on approach. On Friday, she headed straight to the stalled Poozhithode-Padinjarathara road project, urging authorities to speed things up and help locals out.
Talking to , Priyanka explained her goal for the trip. "I’m here for 10 days to dive deep into the local issues in Wayanad," she said. "I want to figure out how I can support people and fix these problems. That’s my main mission right now."
During her visit to the Poozhithode-Padinjarathara road site, Priyanka chatted with residents frustrated by the delays. She wanted to see the road project issues firsthand. "I’ve checked out the problems and objections myself, and we’ve even done a survey," she told reporters.
On the hot topic of environmental clearance for the Wayanad road project, Priyanka kept it balanced. "That’s for the experts to decide," she noted. "But there’s a real urgency here—people are suffering. At the same time, we can’t ignore the ecological concerns. We need to strike a balance."
She highlighted why the project matters so much. Locals in this part of Kerala struggle to reach medical facilities and other essential services because of the poor road conditions. "It’s crucial for people to access hospitals and basics they can’t get to now," Priyanka added. "We’ll keep pushing to support them and find a solution together."
Before arriving in Wayanad, Priyanka shared her condolences on social media for the loss of senior Congress leader and former Kerala Agriculture Minister P.P. Thankachan. "Heartfelt condolences on the passing of Shri P.P. Thankachan, a dedicated leader who served Kerala with commitment and passion," she posted on X. "My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this tough time."
