I am always available for advice, Rohit Sharma tells Indian team ahead of T20 World Cup 2026

Mumbai, Nov 25 (LatestNewsX) – Though he’s hung up his boots in the shorter format, the only cricketer to appear in every T20 World Cup over the last 15 years is eager to help the national squad sharpen its edge by sharing the insights he’s gathered across a long career.

Rohit Sharma, who guided India to a second T20 World Cup crown in 2024 across the United States and Caribbean—after first winning the title as a player in 2007—told reporters on Tuesday that he plans to sit down with members of the T20 side during the upcoming ODI series against South Africa.

“Every time I meet the guys from the T20 team, I keep talking.” He added, referring to a stop he’ll make in Ranchi for the ODIs, “I’m still playing, and I’ll chat with some of them there who are part of the T20 set‑up.” Rohit made these remarks in a panel that also featured T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav, Women’s World Cup winner Harmanpreet Kaur and ICC chief executive Sanjog Gupta. The trio were speaking in Mumbai at the same time the board released the full schedule for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

According to Rohit, teammates routinely converse among themselves, and he wants to tap into that dialogue to understand their mindset.

“There’s always a conversation that happens between the players,” he said. “I’m someone who likes to talk, discuss, and actually get into their frame of mind, understand what they’re thinking.” The white‑ball legend, the only player to hit three double hundreds in ODIs, added he’s always ready to offer advice when approached.

“Whenever someone comes to me for advice, I’m there to lend an ear and help find a solution.” As the ICC brand ambassador for the upcoming 2026 T20 World Cup, slated to be co‑hosted by India and Sri Lanka, Rohit also emphasized that the team’s recent form leaves little need for drastic changes.

“The final prep will be all about fine‑tuning when we play New Zealand. That’s when we should solidify our XI or at least our 15‑man squad,” he concluded.
