Moscow, Dec 2 ( LatestNewsX ) – Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced that Steven Witkoff, the U.S. envoy, and Jared Kushner, Trump’s son‑in‑law, will lead the American delegation when they meet Vladimir Putin later this Tuesday.
Peskov told TASS that “The Russian‑American meeting will begin after 5:00 PM Moscow time. Putin will meet with Mr. Witkoff, the chief American negotiator on Ukrainian affairs, who will be arriving in the Kremlin. Kushner will also be with him. A conversation will take place.”
When asked if any other Americans would be present, he replied, “No, there will be no more [American representatives]. Just a translator.”
The core topic is the Ukraine crisis, particularly the U.S.‑proposed “peace plan.” Two weeks ago the United States unveiled a 28‑point plan. Following that, U.S., Ukrainian and several European delegates gathered in Geneva on Nov 23 to review the proposal.
Earlier this month, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Witkoff met a Ukrainian delegation in Hallandale Beach, Florida.
On Nov 27, Putin noted that the U.S. list could serve as a foundation for future agreements. “It would be impolite of me to talk about any final options now, since there are none. But some things are fundamental,” he said at a press conference in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
Putin highlighted that the U.S. side had considered Russia’s position discussed before and after the August meeting between Putin and Trump in Alaska. He added, “Somewhere we definitely need to sit down and seriously discuss some specific things.” He also said, “We need to put everything into diplomatic language because it’s one thing to state in general terms that Russia does not plan to attack Europe. Frankly, that sounds ridiculous. We never had any intention of doing that.”
The President confirmed that the 28‑point plan was forwarded to Russia through the proper channels and has been reviewed. After initial discussions, the plan has been condensed to 19 points, though it remains undisclosed, reflecting the latest shift in diplomatic efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict.
