Actress Mehreen Pirzadaa tells IndiGo Airlines: The chaos you’ve created is outrageous!

Chennai: Actress Mehreen Pirzada tore into IndiGo Airlines on Friday after its app continued to label flights as “on time” even as the carrier scrapped them right before passengers boarded. She called the mishandling “outrageous” and asked the airline to “own up, explain what’s happening, and compensate the people you’ve stranded.”
Using her X profile, Pirzada vented about the last‑minute cancellations that’ve left travelers stranded at airports for days while the app kept ticking “on time.” She wrote, “Go to hell @IndiGo6E! This is absolutely unacceptable. Passengers have been stuck at airports for days while your app keeps showing flights as “on time” until the moment you cancel them at the time of boarding. This isn’t a glitch — it’s negligence.”
She continued, “With new DGCA rules in place, you should’ve fixed your schedules instead of misleading customers. The chaos you’ve created is outrageous. Own up, explain what’s happening, and compensate the people you’ve stranded.”
IndiGo’s chief executive, Pieter Elbers, has acknowledged that the airline is navigating serious operational turbulence. He said the immediate priority is to stabilize services and restore punctuality, admitting that reaching that goal is “not an easy target.”
The carrier has been hit hard by a wave of cancellations and delays, with more than 300 flights scrubbed on Thursday alone and many still running late throughout the day.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation said it is monitoring IndiGo’s efforts to recover operations and support passengers, pledging to keep a close watch until full stability is achieved.
The ministry highlighted the recent disruptions across IndiGo’s network. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu convened a high‑level review meeting with senior IndiGo executives, joined by the Secretary of Civil Aviation, the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), senior ministry officials, and representatives from the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
