UK train attack survivor reveals knifeman’s chilling response after she begged for her life
A woman in her late 40s survived a terrifying knife attack on a London‑bound train that departed from eastern England after 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The victim, Dayna Arnold, was in the same carriage as the attacker when the killer began slashing at “anyone he could find.”
Arnold said she tried to keep to the crowd, but when the attacker broke through the seats she slid to the floor. She described the moment the knife was thrust toward her: “I begged him, ‘Please don’t.’ Then he just kept going.” She added that the man later turned toward her and said, “the devil’s not going to win,” before continuing his rampage.
The train left Peterborough early in the evening, but the attack started only minutes later. Two of the 11 people wounded—one of whom is still fighting for life—were stabbed so badly that police had to rush to the small market town of Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.
One suspect, a 32‑year‑old British man, was taken into custody for attempted murder after the police arrived. A second man was detained but later released without charge. The attacker was described as tall, dark‑skinned, wearing dark clothes and a hat, with shoulder‑length braided hair.
Arnold’s friend, Andy Gray, helped a young victim who had been severely cut. “A young lad, 19 or 20, was bleeding out and had several puncture wounds,” Gray said. He used his belt as a makeshift tourniquet to stop the bleeding.
When the doors opened, Arnold ran off the train. She later saw the attacker running out, only to be tackled by police. Officers tased the knife‑wielding suspect and secured the scene.
Police are still searching the track and the surrounding area for any additional evidence. The incident has sparked a wider conversation about safety aboard UK trains and the rapid response of law enforcement in moments of crisis.
