Op Sindoor upheld Lord Ram’s teachings to fight injustice, says PM Modi in letter to nation on Diwali

Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent a warm Diwali greeting to Indians from New Delhi on Tuesday. In a letter, he linked the festival’s spirit with the recent “Operation Sindoor,” saying the event proved that India can defend its dignity and fight injustice.
Modi explained that Deepavali is celebrated for the second time since the grand construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He praised Lord Ram for teaching “righteousness” and courage, and noted that Operation Sindoor showed those virtues in action.
The Prime Minister highlighted a key milestone: for the first time, millions of lamps will be lit in districts across the country, including remote areas that were previously affected by Naxalism and Maoist terrorism. “We now see many people leaving violence behind and joining the mainstream,” he said. “That’s a major achievement for India.”
Alongside cultural celebrations, Modi reminded citizens of recent economic progress. On the first day of Navratri, the government cut GST rates in a move he named the “GST Bachat Utsav.” He claimed the changes saved taxpayers billions of rupees. The PM also urged people to buy Swadeshi (local) products, boosting national pride and moving India toward becoming the world’s third‑largest economy.
Modi encouraged citizens to participate in the “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” (self‑reliant India) drive: respect all languages, keep the country clean, reduce oil use by 10 %, and practice yoga. He concluded that when one lamp lights another, the light grows—not fades—so everyone should illuminate society with harmony, cooperation, and positivity.
“Happy Deepavali,” he said, wishing a joyous festival as India moves forward together.
