Shiv Sena(UBT) MP gives adjournment motion notice in RS over IndiGo flight disruptions across India

New Delhi, Dec 5 (LatestNewsX) – Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi filed an adjournment motion for the Rajya Sabha, bringing attention to the severe disruptions that have been plaguing IndiGo Airlines and causing major trouble for passengers all over India.
In her notice she stated: “I hereby give notice under Rule 180 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) of my intention to call the attention of the Minister of Civil Aviation to the following matter of urgent public importance.”
She went on to highlight: “The widespread disruption in IndiGo Airlines’ operations on Wednesday, resulting in severe delays of up to seven hours and cancellation of more than 70 flights nationwide – including major airports such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad – caused by an acute shortage of crew and other operational issues.”
Meanwhile, India’s largest carrier is grappling with one of its biggest operational meltdowns in recent memory, with daily cancellations climbing to 170‑200 flights—well above routine levels. On Thursday alone, over 500 flights were pulled, adding to widespread delays. In November the airline announced a staggering 1,232 cancellations across its network.
Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, together with senior officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), called an urgent briefing with IndiGo’s top management to assess the crisis. The ministry is keeping a close watch on the situation and has ramped up oversight protocols.
The Minister also ordered the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to brief all airport directors on how best to support stranded passengers. In addition, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been tasked with monitoring fare changes, as widespread cancellations could spark a surge in ticket prices.
