“Devaswom board and ministers involved in corruption must be exposed”: Tarun Chugh

In New Delhi on October 11, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Tarun Chugh slammed the Kerala state government over the Sabarimala temple gold‑plating controversy.
Chugh said that the left‑leaning state cabinet has turned Hindu temples into centers of corruption. He accused the Devaswom Board and the ministers involved of misusing temple gold and called for a complete, impartial probe.

“We need a transparent investigation into the gift of gold that the Kerala government has been handing over to temples for years,” Chugh told . “The Devaswom Board and the ministers who have profited from this must be held accountable.”

The BJP leader was quick to criticize the state’s handling of religious sites, insisting that any misuse of temple resources must be exposed. He also accused the left government of using its influence over investigations to protect corrupt officials.

While addressing the controversy, Chugh voiced support for Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent comments on refugees from Pakistan and Bangladesh. Shah had said that only Indian citizens are entitled to vote, stressing that illegal infiltration threatens national sovereignty.
Chugh echoed Shah, saying the INDIA alliance has been encouraging outsiders to settle for electoral advantage. He warned that a flood of non‑citizens would “turn the country into a Dharamshala.”

Shah, speaking at the Narendra Mohan Smriti Lecture organized by the Hindi daily Dainik Jagran, pointed out the difference between refugees seeking religious safety and infiltrators who cross borders illegally. He warned that unchecked entry would change India’s demographic balance.

The BJP’s sharp criticism comes as the Sabarimala temple faces scrutiny over its gold‑plating decision, which many see as a symbol of state mismanagement. The call for investigation is aimed at ensuring that temple resources are used responsibly and that corruption is stamped out.

Key topics in this story are the Sabarimala temple gold‑plating controversy, corruption in Kerala’s state government, Devaswom Board accountability, and broader concerns about refugees and infiltration that shape India’s national security conversation.
