Bhopal – Chief Minister Mohan Yadav met with Kranti Gaud, the young pacer who helped India lift the Women’s ODI World Cup, and promised to help her father, police constable Munna Singh Gaud, regain a government job. Mr. Yadav said the state would look into all possible legal options to reverse the 2011‑12 suspension that had kept the constable off duty for alleged negligence on election day.
During the meeting, the CM announced that Kranti would be honored as a special guest on Nov. 15 when the state celebrates Janjatiya Gaurav Divas in Jabalpur. The day marks the birth anniversary of legendary freedom fighter Birsa Munda and is an opportunity for the government to recognize people like Kranti who have brought pride to India.
“Her family has given India a world champion,” said Yadav. “We’ll pursue every avenue to right this wrong. Their story deserves more than applause – it deserves our support.” The CM also emphasized that the nation needs to back the sacrifices made by families behind every sporting success.
Kranti’s journey began in rural Chhatarpur, a tribal area in Bundelkhand. The youngest of six children, she left school after eighth grade. Her father, Munna Singh Gaud, a police constable, believed in her dream from the start. “Return home only after winning,” he told her before the 2022 World Cup tournament began in Mumbai.
She started playing tennis‑ball cricket in her village, becoming known among local teams for her energy and reliability. When she got the chance to join India’s international squad for the 2022 Women’s ODI World Cup, she seized it. At the final match at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium, India beat South Africa by 52 runs, securing the country’s first world title in women’s cricket.
Since then, Kranti has taken the field with 24 wickets from eight matches, averaging 40.11 and earning Player‑of‑The‑Match honors for a three‑wicket haul against Pakistan. A 22‑year‑old from a modest background, she has become a role model for girls across rural India.
In Bhopal, the Chief Minister gave the 22‑year‑old a gold medal and a one‑crore rupee reward announced earlier as part of the state’s commitment to sports. He linked Kranti’s success to the broader progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plan to empower women.
Yadav also announced plans to build a modern cricket stadium in Chhatarpur, specifically designed to nurture female talent and village kids like Kranti. “Our state is full of raw potential,” he said. “This ground will turn small‑town grit into world‑class swings.”
Kranti thanked the government, stressing that her achievement belongs to every child who kicks a ball on dirt pitches in Ghuwara village. “It’s for every kid in Ghuwara, every girl who chases her dream,” she said.
The CM’s visit rose quickly on social media, with many celebratory messages from fans and teammates. The push to reinstate Munna Singh Gaud and the new stadium plan highlight the state’s commitment to justice and youth development in sports.
Bhopal’s story reminds us that behind every champion is a family that believes, a smaller town that nurtures talent, and government leadership that can turn a promise into a reality.
