Odisha Dy CM assures financial support to all eligible beneficaries left out of Subhadra scheme
Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has good news for women who missed out on the Subhadra scheme benefits. She assured everyone that eligible women left out will soon get their financial support.
During a media chat in Bhubaneswar after a key review meeting on the Subhadra Yojana, Parida shared updates on fixing the issues. The Women and Child Development (W&CD) department plans to launch a door-to-door survey for 2.85 lakh beneficiaries who didn’t receive the third installment payout. Officials must wrap up this field enquiry in just 15 days and send the report back to the department.
Parida also pushed for quick action on opening the Subhadra grievance redressal module. This will help sort out complaints about the Odisha government’s popular women’s empowerment scheme. Plus, women who qualify but got skipped can now apply directly through the official portal.
In a recent update, the W&CD department sent a list of 15,984 beneficiaries marked as deceased to the Health and Family Welfare Department for double-checking. Parida said they’ll wait for that verification report before proceeding. Interestingly, sources say at least 1,805 women on that list are actually alive and eligible for Subhadra Yojana benefits.
Other common reasons for exclusion include owning vehicles—over 36,000 women fell into this category—and filing income tax returns, affecting more than 21,000 beneficiaries. Many others missed out for various reasons, but the government is working to include them.
For those new to it, the Subhadra Yojana is Odisha’s flagship program to boost women’s financial independence. Launched by the state government, it gives eligible women Rs 10,000 every year in two installments. The scheme runs for five years, so each beneficiary can get up to Rs 50,000 in total. With these steps, more women across Odisha should soon access this vital support.
