Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan made a busy visit to Odisha’s Angul district on Tuesday, teaming up with Dhenkanal MP Rudra Narayan Pany for key meetings. They attended the 15th Rehabilitation and Periphery Development Advisory Committee (RPDAC) session of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) at the local collector’s office. The focus? Smooth land acquisition that keeps locals happy while ramping up coal production.
Pradhan chatted with MCL officials and district admins about making this process people-friendly. It’s all about balancing growth with convenience in this coal-rich area.
After the meeting, he headed to the Aluminium Park in Angul to check on ongoing projects. He met with district leaders and top industrial folks to get the latest updates.
Talking to , Pradhan shared his excitement: “Angul is turning into a real industrial hub. We produce one million tonnes of coal here, and there’s a buzzing steel plant cluster. Major power plants, like NTPC’s, are also powering the region. To boost MSMEs and supporting industries, we’re setting up an Aluminium Industrial Park. I came to review progress and connect with stakeholders. Our goal? Empower the youth to start businesses and create jobs.”
Just a week earlier, on September 9, Pradhan linked up with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and other Odisha MPs. They talked about exciting railway projects shaping up in the state.
At a press conference, Pradhan highlighted Vaishnaw’s big announcement: a whopping Rs 1 lakh crore investment in Odisha’s railways. “The central government is shaking things up in the railway sector to drive development and supercharge agricultural output,” he said. “MPs discussed this today—Vaishnaw Ji flagged the Rs 1 lakh crore plan in the last budget. Projects are moving fast to connect and grow the state.”
Pradhan also pushed for better rail links to Kandhamal district, often called the “Kashmir of Odisha,” to open up more opportunities there.
These steps show how Odisha is gearing up for industrial and infra boom, creating jobs and growth for everyone.
