President Trump Discusses U.S. Airstrikes on ISIS in Nigeria
During a Friday morning interview with WABC radio host John Catsimatidis, former President Donald J. Trump explained the U.S. military’s actions against suspected ISIS fighters in northwestern Nigeria. The strikes took place on Thursday, December 25, 2025, near the Sokoto state border with Niger.
Trump said, “I said yesterday, ‘Hit them on Christmas Day. It will be a Christmas present,’" the former president told the broadcaster. He continued, “We hit ISIS, who are terrible. They are butchers. We really hit them hard in different locations. They really got hit hard yesterday. They got a very bad Christmas present.”
The U.S. government released a short clip showing a missile launch targeting an ISIS stronghold in Nigeria amid the operation. Meanwhile, the Nigerian government confirmed that Washington had coordinated the night’s offensive.
The U.S. Africa Command assessed that “multiple ISIS terrorists were killed,” but the exact number of casualties remains undisclosed at this time.
