Jaipur, Dec 4 (LatestNewsX) – Just days ago, a team from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), together with Child Line and Srishti Seva Sansthan, pulled 22 children out of danger at Dungarpur railway station in Rajasthan. The youngsters were reportedly being moved to Gujarat to work in catering.
Police say they also arrested three men who were helping with the smuggling.
The trio had gathered the kids from several Dungarpur villages, planning to board a train in Chittorgarh and head to Asarwa, Gujarat.
A tip from the RPF prompted Child Line officials of the Department of Child Rights to act. They heard that a group of children had just arrived at the station and might be set for illegal labor.
A combined team of Child Line, Srishti Seva Sansthan, RPF and GRP staff quickly arrived on the platform to verify the situation.
When the operators saw them, the men tried to escape. After being stopped and questioned, they first denied any knowledge of the children, then tried to deceive the officials by calling themselves relatives, and later claiming the kids were on a picnic. Individual questions with the children, however, revealed the truth—they were being taken out of the state for work.
In total, 27 people were seized. Age checks showed that 22 were minors aged 11‑18, while the remaining five were adults. The suspects were identified as Jaichand, Ashish and Sanjay. The children came from Jhothari, Bedsa, Simalwara and Mewada villages.
The rescued minors were taken before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), which ordered that they be placed in a child‑care home.
The CWC also directed that hard legal action be taken against those involved in the trafficking and illegal child labor. Authorities say further investigation is ongoing to uncover the network behind the plot.
