‘Viral sensation’ & Aamir Khan’s co-star from TZP, Girija Oak expresses grave concern over her picture being morphed

Mumbai, Nov. 14 – Marathi star Girija Oak, who rose to fame with the 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par, has warned fans about a new danger that comes with internet fame. In a short video shared on her Instagram page, Oak explained how her photos are being altered by AI and posted online without her permission.

She said, “For the past few days I’ve been confused by the sudden attention on social media. I’m getting loads of love and messages, and I’m grateful. But some of the content people share is vulgar.” Oak added that her images are being deep‑faked and goes on to describe how these altered photos can stay online forever, potentially harming her 12‑year‑old son’s perception of her.

“I’m worried about how he’ll see me if he discovers those fake images,” Oak told viewers. “At that age, he won’t be on social media yet, but in a few years he will. He might see a picture that looks real and think it’s me. That’s scary for me.”

Oak urged people who edit or share such photos to stop. “If you are creating or liking those images, think about the impact,” she urged. “I can’t do much to control what others post, but I can ask you to be responsible.”

The actress thanked her followers for their support. “Because of this viral attention, more people know about my work. I’m glad. I promise to keep working hard, and I’ll be back in theatres with new projects.”

Girija Oak’s rise to social‑media stardom began on a simple video where she looked sharp in a saree with minimal makeup.
