GST 2.0 reforms, festive demand propel Hyundai India to record SUV sales in September

Hyundai Motor India is celebrating a big win in September sales, thanks to GST 2.0 reforms, festive shopping excitement, and strong customer buzz. The company hit its highest-ever share of SUV sales for the month, pushing total figures to 70,347 units.

Domestic sales led the charge with 51,547 units, while exports added 18,800 units. That’s a solid 10% jump from the 64,201 units sold in September 2024. SUVs stole the show, making up 72.4% of domestic sales—the best ratio in Hyundai India’s history. They sold 37,313 SUV units overall, with the popular Creta topping the list at 18,861 units, its strongest month ever. The Venue wasn’t far behind, racking up 11,484 units for a 20-month high.

Exports really took off, surging 44% year-over-year to reach 18,800 units—the highest monthly number in 33 months, since December 2022. For the April-to-September 2025 period, Hyundai India’s total exports hit 99,540 units, up 17% from last year.

Tarun Garg, Hyundai Motor India’s whole-time director and chief operating officer, credits the boost to the new GST 2.0 reforms. We thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for these game-changing changes that are fueling dreams across India,” Garg said. He pointed out how the reforms have synced up domestic and export growth into a “double-engine” powerhouse.

Garg also highlighted the role of festive demand and eager buyers in every segment, which lifted local sales. On the global side, it shows India’s rising star as a key hub for Hyundai. “This balanced rise in SUVs and exports highlights our strategic edge,” he added.

Hyundai says the numbers prove how GST 2.0 is supercharging the auto market, especially for SUVs that Indian buyers love. The company plans to keep tweaking its lineup to match what customers want next, while tapping India’s talented workers to serve worldwide demand.
