Gaganjeet Bhullar stormed to victory at the IGPL Delhi NCR golf tournament in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday. The Indian golf star knew right away that a big score was coming when he stepped onto the Jaypee Greens Golf Resort for the final round. After a smooth warm-up, his body felt loose and ready to fire.
Bhullar delivered a stunning 6-under 64, the lowest round yet in the two IGPL events. This made him the first back-to-back winner on the exciting new circuit, which spotlights young Indian golf talents. He finished with a total of 8-under after scores of 72-68-64. The Jaypee course played as a par-72 on day one and par-70 for the next two days.
Thrilled with his win, Bhullar pocketed Rs 22.5 lakhs for the second week in a row. “Winning always feels great—that’s what we train for,” he said with a grin. “But I’m really impressed by the talent in this IGPL field. These teenagers will shine not just in India but on the global stage too.”
He explained his turnaround: “My body felt stiff the first two days because I’ve been hitting the gym hard for the international part of my season. But today, after warming up, everything loosened up. I knew I could go low.”
Starting the day five shots behind overnight leader Kartik Singh, Bhullar exploded with birdies on the first two holes, then another on the fifth. He kept the pressure on, adding five more birdies on the back nine (holes 10, 12, 14, 15, and 17) with just one bogey on the 13th. He reached 9-under before a three-putt bogey on the 18th dropped him to 8-under—but it was enough for a two-shot win.
Pukhraj Singh Gill fired a 6-under 68 to grab second place at 6-under total. Kartik Singh, the 16-year-old sensation who led after two rounds, ended third at 4-under after a tough final round with a double bogey on the last hole.
In his IGPL debut, Karandeep Kochhar (3-under) tied for fourth with Syed Saqib Ahmed (3-under). Kartik Sharma and Aman Raj (both 2-under) shared sixth, showing promise after injury recoveries. New pro Raghav Chugh and Sachin Baisoya (both 1-under) tied for eighth, while veteran Shiv Kapur finished 10th at even par.
Amandeep Drall led the women at 1-over in tied-11th. Top amateur was 16-year-old Arshvant Srivastava, who ended at 7-over after a par final round.
IGPL CEO Uttam Singh Mundy praised Bhullar’s charge: “His final-day heroics must inspire all these youngsters. They chased hard—guys like Kartik, Pukhraj, and Raghav—but Gaganjeet played brilliantly. As a big name in Indian golf, he’s given the IGPL a fantastic start with two wins in two weeks.”
Tournament host Gaurav Ghei, a three-time Asian Tour winner and the first Indian to play The Open, loved the buzz. “Hosting while playing is a big responsibility, but the IGPL team nailed it. Gaganjeet’s display and the young guns pushing him were incredible.”
Pukhraj, starting three shots off the lead, stayed steady with his long drives to claim second. Kartik, fresh off a tied-eighth pro debut last week, struggled with early bogeys but fought back. “I didn’t bring my best today, but these two IGPL events have taught me so much from Gaganjeet sir and the seniors. It’s boosted my game big time,” he said.
