PM Modi: ‘Honoured’ to attend Laksha Kantha Gita event in K’taka’s Udupi

New Delhi/Bengaluru, Nov 27 (LatestNewsX) – Ahead of his trip to Udupi in Karnataka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed on X that he feels privileged to join the Laksha Kantha Gita event at the city’s famed Sri Krishna Matha.

Taking to social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi said, “It is an honour for me to have the opportunity to visit the Udupi Sri Krishna Matha and participate in the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana programme.”
“This is a special event that brings together people from various sections of society for the recitation of the Gita. This Matha holds a very special significance in our cultural life. Inspired by Sri Madhvacharya, this Matha has been at the forefront of service to society,” the PM added.

The Sri Krishna Matha, founded more than eight centuries ago by Madhvacharya, the thinker behind Advaita Vedanta, will host a grand gathering where a lakh of participants—including students, monks, scholars and everyday citizens—will chant verses from the Bhagavad Gita in harmony. The Prime Minister will also address the assembly.

In preparation for the PM’s visit, Udupi has tightened security and decked the city in saffron to welcome the leader. From Bannanje to Kalsanka, a brief 20‑minute roadshow will precede the temple stop, with barricades set up so the public can watch safely. Buntings and saffron flags adorn the route, and authorities expect a sizeable turnout.

To ensure safety, more than 3,000 police officers will be on duty in and around the city. Police force includes ten Superintendents of Police, 27 Deputy Superintendents, 49 Inspectors, 127 Sub‑Inspectors, 232 ASIs, 1,608 constables, 39 female staff, six Karnataka State Reserve Police platoons and six Quick Response Teams. Two layers of barricades will separate the crowd from the security teams.
