Bihar’s political scene is heating up again as Rural Works Minister Ashok Choudhary fires back at Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor. The BJP leader sent a hefty Rs 100 crore defamation notice to Kishor, the former political strategist turned politician, over fresh allegations of property irregularities.
Choudhary demands an unconditional written apology and a public one within seven days. If Kishor doesn’t comply, Choudhary plans to pursue criminal charges and a civil lawsuit for damages. “These false statements have hurt me and my family deeply,” Choudhary said in a sharp statement. “This kind of dirty family-level politics is unacceptable. Prashant Kishor must apologize publicly.”
The feud kicked off on September 19 when Kishor held a press conference in Patna. He accused Choudhary of buying 23 katthas of land in Bikram, Patna, back in 2021 through his personal assistant, Yogendra Dutt. Kishor claimed Choudhary then transferred the property to his daughter, Shambhavi Choudhary, who serves as the Samastipur MP. According to Kishor, the land deal cost Rs 200 crore and involved the Manas Vaibhav Vikas Trust. He also pointed to suspicious financial dealings between Choudhary’s wife, Nita Keskar Choudhary, and his sister-in-law, Anita Kunal, the wife of the late retired IPS officer Acharya Kishor Kunal.
Choudhary quickly shot down these Bihar land deal claims as total lies. He explained that Shambhavi bought the property legally on February 21, 2021, using her own earnings. All details appear in her election affidavit, he added. “There’s no benami property here at all. Every claim about our family’s bank transactions is fake and meant to mislead people,” Choudhary stated. He denied any link to the trust Kishor mentioned and blamed the accusations on Kishor’s political desperation. “Prashant Kishor has no integrity or real vision for public service. His whole approach relies on lies and tricks,” the minister said.
This isn’t their first clash in Bihar politics. Choudhary already filed a defamation case against Kishor earlier this year. A Patna court issued a summons for Kishor to appear in Complaint Case No. 6989/2025 on October 17, 2025. Choudhary believes Kishor’s latest Bihar property allegations came in a panic after that court notice hit.
As tensions rise between the BJP and Jan Suraaj Party, many in Patna are watching closely to see if this defamation battle escalates further.
