Brian Walshe’s murder trial to start 2 weeks after he admitted getting rid of wife’s dismembered body

On Monday, Brian Walshe will appear before a jury to face murder charges after he confessed to dismembering his wife, Ana. The case started two weeks after he admitted to cutting her body into pieces and dumping the remains, which were later incinerated. Walshe, 50, is accused of killing his 39‑year‑old spouse with whom he raised three children. The Norfolk County Superior Court in Dedham will hear opening
statements from both the prosecution and the defense.
Just before jury selection, Walshe— a real‑estate executive from Cohasset—pleaded guilty to the lesser charges of dismemberment and improper disposal, but he insists he didn’t kill Ana. Her body has not yet been found. Prosecutors say they have video evidence of Walshe buying cleaning products and a utility knife at Home Depot and using them to cover up the crime, as well as a search on his son’s iPad about how to dispose of a body. He allegedly acted on suspicions that Ana was having an affair and had even hired a private investigator to follow her. The couple’s marriage had been strained after allegations that he was selling counterfeit Andy Warhol artworks.
The trial is slated to last two to three weeks. Walshe faces two sentences: a 10‑year term for misleading the police and a 3‑year term for the improper handling of a body. If convicted on the remaining first‑degree murder charge, he could receive life in prison without parole.
