Former PM Lal Bahadur Shastri’s birth anniversary to be celebrated on Oct 2

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for a nationwide ‘Seva Pakhwada’ from September 17 to October 2. This special campaign honors Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birth anniversary on September 17, along with Mahatma Gandhi’s and Lal Bahadur Shastri’s on October 2. It’s all about service, self-reliance, and building a stronger India.

In Jaipur, party leaders kicked off preparations with a lively state-level workshop on Thursday. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, state in-charge Radhamohan Das Agarwal, and state president Madan Rathore spoke to enthusiastic BJP workers. They covered key topics like the Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan and the latest GST reforms, which aim to make life easier for everyone from small traders to big industrialists.

Radhamohan Das Agarwal didn’t hold back on his criticism of the Congress party. He accused them of sidelining leaders outside the Gandhi-Nehru family, pointing out how statues of Mahatma Gandhi dot the country while those of Lal Bahadur Shastri are hard to find. “This is a clear Congress conspiracy,” Agarwal said. He stressed that the BJP will now celebrate Shastri’s birth anniversary with full enthusiasm across India, alongside Gandhi’s, to honor true national heroes.

Chief Minister Sharma shared an inspiring take on PM Modi’s journey. “From a grassroots organizer to the nation’s top leader, Modi’s story shows that hard work, loyalty, and a service mindset can turn dreams into reality,” he said. Sharma praised Modi’s game-changing initiatives for the poor, like providing solid homes, toilets, electricity, and better healthcare. He called Seva Pakhwada a big step toward Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047.

On the environment front, Sharma highlighted Rajasthan’s green push. Last year, the state planted 7.5 crore saplings, followed by 11 crore this year. They’ve set an ambitious goal of 50 crore trees over the next five years. During Seva Pakhwada, BJP workers will plant trees right at the local booth level. The campaign will also mark Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s jayanti on September 25.

Expect plenty of awareness drives too. Workers will spread Shastri’s iconic ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ slogan, PM Modi’s version of it, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s ‘Jai Vigyan Jai Anusandhan’ mantra to inspire the masses. On GST, Sharma explained how the new rules will boost trade, cut red tape, and strengthen the economy—good news for the poor, traders, and businesses alike.

Sharma took a swipe at the opposition, saying Congress sticks to divisive politics of appeasement and gets upset over moves like the recent anti-conversion bill. “They skip real debates in the assembly and rant on social media about caste and corruption. That old trick won’t fly anymore,” he quipped. He urged BJP workers to dive into Seva Pakhwada with full commitment, remembering how PM Modi calls himself the ‘Pradhan Sevak’—and every party member follows suit in serving the people.

State BJP president Madan Rathore wrapped up by calling on workers to join the drive with energy. “We’ll not only celebrate Seva Pakhwada but also highlight Atmanirbhar Bharat and the benefits of new GST provisions,” he added.

The workshop also reviewed upcoming events like the Urban Administration Camp, Rural Administration Camp, and Cooperative Membership Drive, keeping the momentum going for BJP’s service-focused initiatives.
