On December 2, the Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, addressed a ceremony in Agartala where the state’s football federation was honoring its newest lifetime members. He emphasized that his BJP administration is fully focused on improving football facilities and boosting the broader sports scene throughout the state.
During the reception, Saha reminded everyone that football is more than just a game; it instills discipline, team spirit, and dedication in young people. He announced that roughly eighty individuals had been elected as lifetime members. Together with invited guests, the chief minister handed out commemorative items and certificates to those honored.
Saha highlighted how Tripura is now a prominent player in the Indian sports arena. “People from outside the state are taking note of both the quality of our infrastructure and the achievements of our athletes,” he said. He detailed a range of initiatives, such as the construction of synthetic pitches, the introduction of day‑and‑night matches, and the growing participation of tribal boys and girls in sports.
He credited the government’s genuine commitment to these efforts, noting that the administration values and respects athletes while also remembering former sporting greats. For young talent, he stressed that regular training, hard work, perseverance, determination, and a disciplined lifestyle are essential.
“The government stands beside every gifted athlete,” Saha affirmed. He added that the Tripura Football Association plays a pivotal role in advancing the sport and that the state government is rolling out further plans with a positive vision. He also pointed out that sports help keep communities away from harmful addictions and promote health.
Key attendees included Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy, Mayor Dipak Majumder, Tripura Football Association President Pranab Sarkar, and other dignitaries.
