2 NYC residents found dead inside glossy Borgata hotel in Atlantic City under mysterious circumstances
Two New York City residents were discovered dead in a room at the Borgata casino‑hotel in Atlantic City on Sunday afternoon, according to prosecutors.
The bodies of 68‑year‑old Wei Guo Liang from Brooklyn and 36‑year‑old Baoyi Bowie Zheng from Staten Island were found in the same hotel room around 5 p.m., the Atlantic Prosecutor’s Office told reporters on Wednesday.
An autopsy revealed Zheng died from a broken neck, while Liang’s death was caused by self‑inflicted stab wounds. The prosecutor’s office has not released further details, and it remains unclear whether the deaths were a murder‑suicide. A spokesperson said no additional comments would be made until the investigation is complete.
The major crimes unit of the prosecutor’s office, together with Atlantic City police, is leading the inquiry.
An email sent to MGM Resorts International, the company that runs the Borgata, was not answered earlier in the day.
The Borgata markets itself as an “unparalleled travel experience on the East Coast,” boasting 2,000 rooms, a sprawling casino and a range of other amenities.
