CM Mohan Yadav heralds ‘Atmanirbhar Panchayat-Samridhh’ as a step to Gram Swaraj by 2047

Bhopal – On Monday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav highlighted that the core of Indian governance has always been local self‑government, insisting that true administration begins at the village level. He made the remark while opening a workshop called “Atmanirbhar Panchayat‑Samridhh Madhya Pradesh,” which is part of the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (Watershed Development 2.0). CM Yadav described the event as a key step toward Gram Swaraj, local self‑reliance and a stronger Bharat by 2047. Addressing a large gathering of village, block and district panchayat representatives, he praised the leaders for crafting strategies that make the bodies administratively efficient, financially robust and self‑sufficient. “Our country has great potential in trade and business across many sectors. As opportunities grow, we will also get chances to progress. With development, campaigns will continue to focus on the welfare of the poor, youth and women,” he said. He also noted that panchayat reforms are needed, and that suggestions from district and block vice‑presidents noted during school inspections will be formally recorded and implemented. In addition, he reaffirmed that sarpanches are authorized to spend up to Rs 25 lakh on panchayat activities – a starting point that will be followed by further initiatives. The chief minister urged panchayats to prepare master plans to boost investment prospects and residential planning, starting with Vidisha. “The state government has empowered panchayats to manage drinking‑water supplies, and rural development is being promoted through solar pump schemes, offering up to 90 per cent subsidy for farmers purchasing three‑ to five‑horsepower pumps,” CM Yadav added. pd/pgh
