Patna, Nov 27 (LatestNewsX) — In a bold daylight robbery, unknown culprits burst into a jewellers’ shop in Bihar’s Siwan district on Thursday, stealing cash and ornaments worth about ₹1 crore. The incident has left locals stunned and terrified, sparking fresh doubts about the state’s safety and law‑and‑order situation.
Sources say six masked, armed men entered a shop in Raghunathpur and fled with nearly ₹1 crore in jewelry and money. While conducting the raid, the robbers fired five to six shots to spread confusion, turning the bustling market into a chaotic scene.
The station house officer at Raghunathpur police station confirmed the heist, noting, “The accused came on a bike around 12.05 p.m. and looted a jewellery shop. We have launched an investigation, and CCTV footage from nearby shops is being examined.”
The brazen escape has amplified residents’ fears and highlighted shortcomings in state policing. It occurred on the same day that Bihar’s Director General of Police, DGP Vinay Kumar, announced plans to dismantle mafia networks.
Observers believe that a robbery of this magnitude, happening immediately after Samrat Choudhary took charge of the Home Department, is being viewed as a direct challenge to the new government’s authority.
Initial reports peg the value of the stolen jewelry and cash at about ₹1 crore. The ease with which the heist was carried out, however, has put additional pressure on police and administrative officials.
Citizens are demanding swift action and tighter security measures to restore confidence, raising the question of whether criminals are indeed operating fearlessly in Bihar.
DGP Vinay Kumar told reporters Thursday that police have prepared a complete dossier on 400 offenders and submitted it to the court for review. He added that 1,200 to 1,300 more criminals have now been identified, and the relevant documentation is in progress.
