Marjorie Taylor Greene spars with ‘60 Minutes’ host Lesley Stahl over ‘accusatory’ questions
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R‑Ga., had a brief exchange with “60 Minutes” host Lesley Stahl over what she alleged was the journalist’s “accusatory” tone. It was Greene’s first sit‑down with Stahl since she announced her resignation from Congress last month.
In the interview, Stahl and Greene discussed the Georgia lawmaker’s apology for being “involved in toxic politics.” Greene had earlier told CNN in November that she was “humbly sorry” for her role, saying the nation had suffered under what she called “toxic politics.” She added that the death of Charlie Kirk had made her reflect on personal responsibility, stating she was committed to “putting down the knives in politics.”
Stahl asked, “But you contributed to that,” pointing to the way Greene “pounded and insulted people.” Greene rebuffed the criticism, claiming Stahl herself had helped fuel the toxic atmosphere. She reiterated, “You’re accusatory, just like you did just then,” to which Stahl replied, “I know you’re accusing me, but I’m smiling.” Greene then said, “You’re accusing me, but we don’t have to accuse one another.”
The back‑and‑forth continued, with Greene urging Stahl to admit her own part in the toxic dialogue. Stahl insisted that she never “insult people,” while Greene countered that Stahl’s questioning style came across as an accusation.
After the interview, Fox News Digital reached out to CBS News for comment, but no response was forthcoming. Greene’s past encounter with Stahl dates back to April 2023, when they had a heated exchange over her claim that Democrats were a “party of pedophiles.” Stahl protested, while Greene blamed Democrats for supporting child sexualization and transgender surgeries, equating that with pedophilia. Stahl’s reaction was one of shocked silence.
Greene’s announcement to step down on Jan. 5 came as a surprise to many, and speculation has linked her departure to a strained relationship with former President Donald Trump. The report was contributed to by Joseph Wulfsohn of Fox News.
