Hate-filled bigot damages menorah outside NYC food pantry

On the afternoon of December 15, a vandal broke into the street outside Tomchei Shabbos of Queens, a Jewish food‑pantry in Kew Gardens, and ripped a $250‑worth menorah from the roof of a parked vehicle. The incident, which took place at roughly 3:12 p.m., left one of the lights shattered. Sources say the attacker fled the scene along 129 Street heading toward Kew Gardens Road.

The charity, which distributes weekly food packages to families in need, was shaken by the attack. Police say the NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is currently investigating the vandalism as a hate‑based offense.

The day before the menorah was destroyed, 35‑year‑old New Yorker Elias Rosner was stabbed by a man who shouted “I’m going to kill Jewish people, I’m going to kill a Jew today… We wouldn’t be in this mess if the Holocaust had happened,” according to Rosner. The assailant was identified as 23‑year‑old Armani Charles.

Anyone with information about the menorah vandalism is urged to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1‑800‑577‑TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish speakers, 1‑888‑57‑PISTA (74782). Tips can also be submitted online at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/ or on X @NYPDTips.
