PKL 12: Sandeep masterclass helps U Mumba complete double over Tamil Thalaivas, move to fifth spot

U Mumba cruised to a decisive 42-24 victory over Tamil Thalaivas in Pro Kabaddi League Season 12, jumping to fifth place on the points table. The thrilling match unfolded Wednesday night at the SDAT Multi-Purpose Indoor Stadium in Chennai, where U Mumba’s attackers and defenders shone brightly.

Sandeep stole the show for U Mumba, racking up his third straight Super 10 with sharp raids that dismantled the opposition. Defenders Lokesh Ghosliya and captain Sunil Kumar each notched a High Five, shutting down Tamil Thalaivas’ threats. Even though Nitesh Kumar grabbed a High Five for the Thalaivas, U Mumba’s teamwork overwhelmed them from start to finish.

The first 10 minutes kept fans on edge, with U Mumba edging ahead 9-7. Sandeep and Amirmohammad Zafardanesh fired off early raids, while Lokesh and Rinku nailed key tackles to hold the line. Arjun Deshwal kept Tamil Thalaivas alive with a raid that ousted Ravi, and coach swapped in Yogesh Yadav for fresh energy. Every move counted in that tight battle.

U Mumba pulled away in the next stretch, leading 16-11 at halftime. Ajit Chouhan’s Do-Or-Die raid bagged two points, and Lokesh sealed his High Five—the second-fastest this season—with smart stops. Tamil Thalaivas pushed back via Deshwal, but their Do-Or-Die efforts fizzled. Suresh Jadhav and Nitesh stepped up defensively, yet U Mumba’s five-point buffer held firm.

The second half belonged to U Mumba as they built a 28-16 lead after 30 minutes. Sandeep’s pinpoint raids kept the points flowing, and Sunil Kumar plus Zafardanesh stonewalled any Thalaivas comeback. Deshwal’s raids came up empty, and the game-changer hit when Sandeep’s two-point raid sparked an All Out, benching Aashish and Rohit Beniwal. U Mumba now called all the shots.

In the final push, U Mumba sealed the deal with another All Out and relentless pressure. Sandeep finished with 12 points, slicing through defenses at will. Sunil’s steady tackles capped his High Five, while Tamil Thalaivas faltered on empty raids. The 18-point win highlighted U Mumba’s Pro Kabaddi League dominance, boosting their playoff hopes in Season 12.
