Suryavanshi, only 14, smashed 144 runs off just 42 balls, a strike rate that tops 340, the fourth‑highest ever for any century in T20. He hit 11 fours and a jaw‑dropping 15 sixes, smashing a record‑setting finish in the Asian tournament. After he reached 100 on the 32nd ball, the stadium erupted – it’s now the joint‑second fastest century in India’s T20 history, trailing only Urvil Patel and Abhishek Sharma’s 28‑ball milestones in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
The knock helped India “A” pile up 297 for 4, the joint fifth‑highest team total in men’s T20s. UAE then collapsed, and the bowlers sealed a glinting victory. “It was just my natural game. I didn’t want to change my intent – we needed a big score on this ground,” Suryavanshi said to Telecom Asia Sport. “The wicket was good, the boundary was small. I just kept backing my shots.”
He thanked his father for the discipline that shaped him. “My dad’s strictness keeps me focused. He makes sure I don’t get distracted and keeps me working hard,” he said. “Now I see the benefit on the field, and I’m grateful.”
Despite demands on a 14‑year‑old talent, Suryavanshi shrugged off pressure. “There is no pressure. Fans come to support. The field outside the ground never enters my mind. I focus on the ball,” he added.
