Trump mocks ‘big, fat slob’ J.B. Pritzker at White House turkey pardon

President Trump used this year’s White House turkey pardon to fire off insults at Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, mocking his weight and blasting him for refusing federal help to address Chicago’s rising crime crisis.
After pardoning the turkeys Waddle and Gobble in the newly updated Rose Garden, Trump pivoted to jabs at his political opponents — saving his sharpest remarks for Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson.
Referring to last week’s horrific attack on 26-year-old Bethany MaGee aboard a Chicago L train — and Illinois officials’ refusal to request federal assistance — Trump let loose.
“The mayor is incompetent, and the governor is … a big, fat slob,” he said, leaning into a dramatic pause before delivering the punchline.
“He ought to invite us and say, ‘Please make Chicago safe.’ We’re gonna lose a great city if we don’t do it quickly,” Trump warned.
Moments later, Trump continued roasting Pritzker, shifting into full comedic mode while criticizing Chicago’s lenient crime policies.
“I had a little bit of a Pritzker joke. I was going to talk about Pritzker in size, but when I talk about Pritzker I get angry because he’s not letting us do the job. So I’m not going to tell my Pritzker joke,” Trump teased — before immediately backtracking.
“They have a very cute little Pritzker joke — some speechwriter wrote it about his weight. But I would never want to talk about his weight. I don’t talk about people being fat. I refuse to talk about the fact that he’s a fat slob, I don’t mention it,” he said, sarcastically denying what he had just said.
Trump then poked fun at himself, adding, “I’d like to lose a few pounds too, by the way. And I’m not going to lose it on Thanksgiving.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has mocked Pritzker’s size. In August, he said the governor “ought to spend more time in the gym, actually.”
Pritzker responded the next day with a jab of his own: “It takes one to know one on the weight question.”
