Bhubaneswar, Nov. 4 – The Odisha police have taken a major step in cracking the multi‑crore Police Sub‑Inspector (SI) recruitment scam. Yesterday, a key suspect, Suresh Nayak, was arrested after the Crime Branch released a press statement.
Nayak runs M/s Silicon Tech Pvt. Ltd. and was the one who prepared, printed and shipped the NRIs question papers for the 2024 SI exam. The Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) had given the Combined Police Service Examination (CPSE)‑2024 to ITI Limited, which then outsourced the task to Silicon Tech. That company, in turn, hired Panchsoft Technologies Pvt. Ltd. to handle core exam parts.
During the probe the Crime Branch found that the mastermind behind the scam was Sankar Prusty, Director of Panchsoft. Prusty and his associates—Muna Mohanty, Srikanta Maharana (aka Rinku), Arabinda Das, T. Abhimanyu Dora, and Priyadarsini Samal—collaborated to rig the exam. Prusty had already been nabbed in Uttarakhand near the Indo‑Nepal border while trying to escape the country.
The Crime Branch highlighted that Nayak kept close contact with Prusty. Evidence shows Nayak sheltered the former in his company guest house in Kalkaji, New Delhi, then warned him to flee the premises to dodge police action. This confirmed a strong link between them.
Earlier in the investigation, Odisha police uncovered the scam by intercepting three buses in Andhra Pradesh on September 29, arresting 114 candidates and three middlemen. Since then, more associates of Prusty have been taken into custody. The police are continuing their sweep for anyone involved in the SI recruitment fraud.
