The third edition of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show 2025 wrapped up with a bang at the India Expo Centre in Noida, breaking records for participation and business buzz, according to Rakesh Kumar, the chairman of India Expo Centre & Mart.
This year’s event drew a whopping 2,250 exhibitors from Uttar Pradesh, highlighting products from big industries, medium-sized firms, small businesses, and special categories like ODOP (One District One Product) and Chief Minister’s youth initiatives. Kumar shared these details with on the event’s sidelines. He added that about 500,000 visitors showed up, sparking more than 200,000 business-to-business (B2B) deals and tons of follow-up inquiries.
Russia stepped in as the partner country, sending 30 major companies and forging trade ties with around 200 people. Plus, over 550 foreign buyers from 80 countries—including big retailers, wholesalers, and importers—joined in to scout opportunities. The show’s tagline, “Ultimate Sourcing Begins Here,” really hit home, Kumar said, with a solid 30% jump in exhibitors, buyers, and visitors compared to the first edition.
Thanks to this success, the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show is now locked in as an annual highlight at the India Expo Centre. For those unfamiliar, the India Expo Centre & Mart stands out as a top venue provider in India, delivering cutting-edge, tech-savvy spaces with top-notch safety for global B2B exhibitions, conferences, product launches, and more.
At the closing ceremony, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal dropped some exciting trade news. He announced that India’s Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA)—finalized back in March 2024—kicks off on October 1. This deal covers Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Iceland, adding to India’s growing list of recent trade pacts.
Goyal explained that starting next month, these four nations will join the mix. He also revealed India is in talks for trade agreements with 27 countries, from the United States and the European Union to Peru. The terms of reference for a deal with Eurasia are already set. “Countries worldwide, even advanced ones, are lining up to sign FTAs with India,” Goyal noted, pointing to recent wins with the UAE, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
The minister took a moment to celebrate India’s economic glow-up since 2014. Foreign exchange reserves have ballooned to $700 billion—almost triple what they were back then. And get this: In the next two years, India aims to claim the spot as the world’s third-largest economy, hitting a massive $5 trillion mark.
