In New Delhi on 7 December, the city’s chief minister, Rekha Gupta, announced that she would award the right‑handed opener Pratika Rawal with a Rs 1.5 crore prize in recognition of her performance in India’s 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup win. The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) also confirmed an extra Rs 50 lakh reward for Pratika, underscoring her key role in the historic victory.
During a ceremony held on Sunday, the 22‑year‑old batter was celebrated by Ms. Gupta in the presence of her father, Pradeep Rawal, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood, and DDCA President Rohan Jaitley. Pratika had previously played for Delhi in both age‑group and senior domestic fixtures before moving to the Railways squad last season.
In the tournament, Pratika stood out as one of India’s best, ranking as the fourth‑highest run‑scorer with 308 runs in seven matches and boasting an average of 51.33. She was highlighted in the CM’s X post, where she said, “Today, Chief Minister welcomed Ms. Pratika Rawal, the talented young player of the Indian women’s cricket team, at Jansewa Sadan. Our promising daughter Pratika has brought glory to Delhi. Honouring her commitment to sports and outstanding performance, the Delhi government will award her a cash prize of ₹1.5 crore.” She added, “Pratika is a living embodiment of young Delhi’s energy, courage, and the feminine power of the new India. Her journey shows that Delhi not only gives birth to dreams but also gives them wings. Heartfelt best wishes for her bright future.”
Pratika, who suffered an ankle injury during India’s final group‑stage match against Bangladesh at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, was still visible during the post‑tournament celebrations. Despite being confined to a wheelchair, she joined her teammates in the on‑field jubilation and later appeared at meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu.
