Patna, Nov 17 – Indian political leaders Lalu Prasad Yadav, former chief minister Rabri Devi and opposition head Tejashwi Yadav all cried over the death of 45 Indian pilgrims in a bus crash near Medina, Saudi Arabia, on Monday.
The trio sent heartfelt messages to the families and prayed for strength and patience for those who lost loved ones.
The bus was heading back to Medina after pilgrims finished their Umrah rituals in Mecca. While bound for the holy city, it struck a diesel tanker about 27 km from Medina, near Al Mufarrihat. Fire broke out instantly. Many passengers were asleep when the collision happened, which helped the crash kill 45 people, including around 20 women and 11 children. Most victims are believed to live in Hyderabad and Telangana.
Saudi emergency crews are still on the scene, conducting rescue and relief operations. The Indian consulate in Jeddah has opened a 24‑hour control room and posted a helpline for families.
RJD senior members Dr. Misa Bharti, Mangani Lal Mandal, Jagdanand Singh, Uday Narayan Choudhary, Abdul Bari Siddiqui and others also voiced deep sorrow. The party said it stands with the bereaved families in this hour of immense grief.
