“Righteousness will triumph, ‘Ravana will be destroyed”: CM Rekha Gupta as country gears up for Dussehra festival

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta shared warm Dussehra greetings with the city’s residents, promising that righteousness will shine through and the demon king Ravana will meet his end. With celebrations kicking off for the Hindu festival of Vijayadashami on October 2, she highlighted the spirit of good triumphing over evil.
Speaking to reporters at the iconic Luv Kush Ramlila near the Red Fort, Gupta called it one of Delhi’s grandest events. “Millions flock here each year to watch the dramatic reenactment of Lord Rama’s story—it’s a true symbol of divinity and splendor,” she said. “I’m thrilled to join in. My heartfelt wishes to everyone in Delhi on this Vijayadashami.”
She added with enthusiasm, “Tomorrow, truth will prevail in Delhi, and Ravana will fall.”
Earlier, Gupta took part in the spectacular Ramleela organized by the Lav-Kush Ramleela Committee, soaking in the epic tales from the Ramayana. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), she reflected, “From Ayodhya to Delhi, the tradition of Ramakatha runs deep in our nation’s soul.” She also mentioned joining MP Praveen Khandelwal from Chandni Chowk and other dignitaries for the event.
Dussehra, or Vijayadashami, ranks as one of India’s biggest Hindu festivals, blending joy, rituals, and lessons on morality. It celebrates Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana, standing for the win of truth and virtue against arrogance and wrongdoing. Across the country, crowds gather for vibrant performances, and a highlight is burning massive effigies of Ravana, his son Meghnad, and brother Kumbhkaran.
The festival goes beyond the spectacle—it encourages folks to battle their own inner demons like anger, greed, pride, and jealousy, embracing values of honesty and goodness instead. This year, as India marks the occasion, the energy in places like Delhi’s Red Fort captures the timeless magic of Dussehra.
