Men’s U19 Asia Cup: India script history, post mammoth 433/6 vs UAE in opener

Dubai, Dec 12 (LatestNewsX) – In a dazzling start to the Men’s U19 Asia Cup, India posted a record‑setting 433 runs for the loss of six wickets against the UAE at the ICC Academy Ground. Teenage prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi dominated the innings with an explosive 171 off 95 balls, while Aaron George and Vihaan Malhotra each added half‑centuries to set the stage. The final push came from Vedant Trivedi (38), Abhigyan Kundu (32) and Kanishk Chouhan (28), who saw India to the historic total.
This new figure eclipsed the team’s own previous high of 425/3 set against Scotland in 2004, and now ranks as the third‑largest score ever in a men’s U19 one‑day match. Suryavanshi’s 171 not only beat his prior best of 130 by Himanshu Rana in 2016, but also established a new Indian record for the Asia Cup. The current U19 Asia Cup single‑innings record still belongs to Soumya Sarkar of Bangladesh, who racked up 209 against Qatar in 2012.
The on‑field fireworks included nine fours and 14 sixes – a six‑run total surpassing Afghanistan’s Darwish Rasooli, who hit 10 sixes in 2017. Suryavanshi reached his fifty in just 30 balls, a hundred in 56, and a 150 in 84. He fell in the 33rd over with the score at 265/3, giving India a solid platform to surpass 400.
Earlier this month, the 14‑year‑old finished an unbeaten 108 from 61 balls for Bihar against Maharashtra in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Kolkata, becoming the youngest centurion in that competition. At the Rising Stars Asia Cup earlier in the year, he smashed 144 off 42 balls for India A against the UAE, smashing 11 fours and 15 sixes in the process.
