Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrapped up his quick one-day trip to Gujarat on Saturday and headed back to Delhi. He got a heartfelt send-off at the airport from Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Joining them were Union Minister and BJP State President C.R. Patil, Protocol Minister Jagdish Vishwakarma, Ahmedabad Mayor Pratibha Jain, and top officials like State Chief Secretary Pankaj Joshi, Director General of Police Vikas Sahay, Additional Chief Secretary Sunayana Tomar, Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G.S. Malik, and Chief Protocol Officer Jvalant Trivedi.
During his visit, Modi checked on the exciting progress of the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) in Lothal, Gujarat. This massive project aims to become the world’s largest maritime museum. Officials say it will highlight India’s ancient maritime history and act as a key spot for tourism, research, education, and skill training. The whole thing costs about Rs 4,500 crore.
Modi shared his thoughts on X, posting: “Reviewed the progress of the National Maritime Heritage Complex at Lothal. Once completed, it will be the world’s largest maritime museum. It will showcase India’s ancient maritime traditions while serving as a hub for tourism, research, education and skill development.”
Earlier that day, Modi led a meeting to discuss the NMHC’s development. He also kicked off major events in Bhavnagar at the Samudra se Samriddhi program, where he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth more than Rs 34,200 crore.
Focusing on India’s maritime sector, Modi launched initiatives totaling over Rs 7,870 crore. These include the new Mumbai International Cruise Terminal at Indira Dock, boosting coastal growth and global connections.
